Research

Elizabeth Svarstad holds a PhD in dance studies from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology with the dissertation '"Accuracy in dance and steps and manners." Dance as social education in Norway 1750–1820'. Research interests include early dance history: Renaissance, Baroque and nineteenth-century dances, etiquette, dance books, the minuet, country dance and dance notation.

She is vice chair of NOFOD – Nordic forum for dance research – and a member of the editorial board for Nordic Journal of Dance.
